Hi everyone. I am new to this group. I have vertigo with no explanation really. All my neurologist could come up with was an inner ear problem, but I forget what he called it.

Sometimes it happens 3 or 4 times in a week, and sometimes I will get a year off with no incidents. I just has another incident this past Friday night. It scares me everytime. I am always sure I am going to fall. Thank God I have never been driving because I get so disoriented. Sometimes I wonder if there are other tests that could be done. I have had the MRI, and the tests that the neurologist does in his office. Any suggestions would be helpful. Nothing in particular seems to bring this on?
Thanks! nice to meet everyone..

" Hi Ella,

I have the same problem sometimes, but usually my severe vertigo attacks happen when I'm lying in bed and roll over onto my right side, which is BPPV. It sounds to me like you may have MAV (migraine-associated vertigo)....if your neurologist does not know how to diagnose you he should be referring you to a specialist, like a neurotologist or a balance/dizziness clinic. Do you know of any in your area? "

" Hi Kelstarr...I never knew they had balance/dissiness clinics. THANK YOU! I will check that out asap. Gosh, I really would like to know what is up. I am sorry you have to deal with this also. Gosh it can be so disturbing huh? I really thought I was going to fall on the floor the other morning. I am so glad this never has happened when I am driving. Just the thought of it makes me feel ill.

Thanks again! much appreciated!!

" My doc calls it "Menieres Disease". She has referred me to Physical Therapy. She also said to put away my salt shaker! She also gave me a wedsite to check out that might help. It's menieres.org there is a lot of helpful info on there. "

" Mine had not much explaination and was inner ear related... but with further observation on my part and really paying attention to all possibilities... we came to a conclusion finally.

Mine is an inner ear blockage caused by my allergy to citrus and citric acid. It is not common, but it is absolutely what causes the problems. My dad has the same problem and my sister is younger and developing it like we both did.

so.. i have not eaten oranges or pineapple (or other citrus) in over a year and i have to watch all packages for citric acid content.. and i have not had full blown in about a year and a half. I have had slight comebacks, but it was when a food had lemon or lime in it.

There are so many causes... it is hard to find out the problem.

I kept a journal of all foods and payed attention to things around me- like dust, smells, etc.. and activity. we narrowed it down and thank goodness! "
