I was diagnosed with Tinnitus back in March of this year after two really bad head colds. So for four months I've been dealing with that and MANY doctors appointments, searching for annswers. It's made me depressed, angry, lonely, and took away a great part of me, my optimism. I used to be such a glas-half-full person, but I could not describe myself that way now.
So in March, before everything really got bad I booked me and my son on a cruise to Alaska. We got back on June 22nd, and on the 23rd I felt as thought I was still on the ship, barely able to walk a straight line. On the 24th, however, I felt better, not thinking anything further about it. Well, on June 25th I woke up and felt like I was back on the ship and it's been like this ever since. I saw a neurologist the other day, and although he turned out to be a HUGE jerk, he did also state that I now have Mal de Debarquement, or better yet, motion sickness. He said that it would clear up in time, but I beg to differ. After everything I've read on the Internet, it appears that this may not be so. So on top of the Tinnitus, now I have to deal with walking like a drunken sailor all the darned time. It's not too bad in the AM's, but as the day wears on the symptoms seem to get worse, with the Tinnitus as well. Sucks. Posted on 07/18/08, 07:07 pm |

I am sorry to hear it.. but that is the nature of vertigo sometimes- docs dont have many answers for us.
Did you go to an ENT doc? They may be better for you. and.. does anything make it feel better?... or when you feel better, can you figure out what makes it worse again? It took me time, but i found my cause... it is a food allergy that caused inner ear blockages.. and the food allergy is in forms that can be found in lots of thing. Mine is a citrus and citric acid allergy. I also have it come back when i have too much dairy. pay attention to EVERYTHING around you and everything you eat or drink. keep a journal and maybe you can either find something related to your spells, or rule out things. good luck to you!

hi rossu, sorry to hear about your troubles. i suffer from meniere's, and have found that the ENT doc was the one who finally helped me to discover the problem. It does take time, some of the tests seem confusing, but i really hope that youare able to get some answers soon.
i agree with mkat, a journal of everything you eat and drink may give you some clues as to triggers, or things that aggravate the symptoms. regarding the Tinnitus, i find having noise soflty in the background helps, although some find this doesn't work for them. it is a matter of finding what works for you, and i hope that you can do this quickly. as you say, teh 'drunken walking' and the Tinitus both suck. good luck with your search for answers
