Hi everyone, I am in the process, right now, of trying to gather as much information as possible about dizziness and vertigo since I suffer from this condition myself but get no clear answers from Dr's. I always leave the Dr's office a little more confused then when I went in. So my question to anyone who will answer is this, how many of you who get dizziness and vertigo in any form or degree also suffer from allergies? I want to know just what role if any it plays in all forms of dizziness. If most of us have this in common, there could be hope since once the allergies are treated (not just the symptoms of allergies) the vestibular issues could resolve.
It's all hypothetical of course. But I'm aware that vertigo is a huge problem today and interestingly enough, so are allergies. More so than at any other time in history. Seems like there could be a link. Posted on 10/31/07, 02:10 pm |

Yes I have dizziness but I know what mine is from. I have a biotoxin disease and after taking steroids I have developed some MCS. I think a lot of people have biotoxin diseases but don't know it. There are thousands of them (mold exposure, pfiesteria, chiguatera, Lyme disease and others). The toxins from biotoxin disease go everywhere in the body and it's a multi-system, multi-symptom disease. Go to www.chronicneurotoxins.com if you think you might be someone who has a biotoxin disease or message me if you have questions. I have had dizziness for about three years. It got progressively worse. Mine was all hormonal. I'm finally getting better.

Yes, I have severe allergies, but the doctors have never made a connection between the two.

I don't think they ever make a connection. I asked my doctor to finally consider it and he said he would. I have scheduled allergy testing for the 14th. I am hoping that immunotherapy (allergy shots) will have a positive impact on future episodes of dizziness.

Yes, I have allergies, especially sinus related ones. It is spring here which means all those nasty little things get into the air. I started getting dizzy and light-headed a few weeks ago and it is getting more and more frequent, and does happen when I lie down. So, maybe there is a connection. Not one I have thought of. I am not on any new meds so I think I can rule that one out.

I just think that when there is an allergy to something you get inflammation in your body which is not the same as swollen nasal passages. I mean deep inside inflammation. It could be the reason that we are all getting various degrees of dizziness. If a person could find out what they are allergic to (could be foods, metals from water, ect.) and eliminate them we might be better off. Think of the environment these days and what we are eating. This can't be helping. I can't accept how many of us are so robbed of life by this, these is awful! And I speak from experience. I just want to feel normal again and not depressed and discouraged anymore. I have always been so active, I am (was) a runner and and avid equestrian, triathlete, ect. And now I am at home living with fear, anxiety and depression. I just refuse to take this lying down!! (no pun)

I have allergies, as well as dizziness. I don't know if the two are related though because my allergies are only spring/summer, and the dizziness comes all year.
