My problem started July 16th. I had mild pain in the lower abdomen, and the lower left side.

I went for a colonoscopy on August 30th. The doctor said everything looks good except that I have 1 or 2 diverticuli.

He didn't mention any infection, but I still have an annoying pain that comes and goes in those same areas. He said to start eating more fiber, and see you in a month.

Can diverticulosis be causing this pain? Not diverticulitis?

I've never been so worried or depressed in all my life.

" You may of had a mild attack in July. In my case the area where I had my attack has distorted the bowel and it is now somewhat restricted in that area. So I do end up feeling it quite often. Eating smaller meals, watching what I eat, and eating a good amount of fiber has helped a lot. I don't allow myself to get constipated, or stay that way for long.

Get a good GI doctor. Make an appointment and get a consultation. Then if and when you do have an attack you have an expert on your side. "

" I'm new too but I think the definition is OSIS is the disease and ITIS is a flare up of the litlle pockets....so no, I'd say. I think you have a mild flare and you should be very demanding at your doc visits and don't take any CRAP (pun warning) "

" My problem started with 2 attacks in 2006 which I thought to be food poisoning. In March of this year the attack left me in a fetal position on the floor and I was taken to the ER where my intestine ruptured. If you follow a diet, take medication and drink PLENTY of water (3-4 bottles per day) you should be fine. Medication does help and it's important to stay away from food with seeds, peanuts, popcorn, corn... Treat your body right and it will do right by you. "

" This to help between the OSIS and ITIS.....Diverticulitis is a common disease of the bowel, in particular the large intestine. Diverticulitis develops from diverticulosis, which involves the formation of pouches (diverticula) on the outside of the colon. Diverticulitis results if one of these diverticula becomes inflamed. "
