Hi all just thought I would see what other people have experienced during a diver attack....I had my last attack on 7/18/07, overlapped by a virus that lasted a couple of days as well. The funny thing is I have since lost 13 punds to date, and I understand that for the first three days after the attack I only ate liquids and then just didnt feel like eating with the virus thing....But it appears that I am still dropping weight. I did start to take a probiotic, and a digestive enzyme every day, plus started eating a high fiber ceral every morning, where I never used to eat breakfaast at all. I guess i am just a little concerned with the weight loss as with previous attacks I would only lose say three pounds and then gain it back immediately...i always have the big C in the back of my mind.....Thanks for your responses.

" Bradley....first of all...I was told I had the big C before I had testing. It scared the daylights out of me because I don't have health insurance. I was actually thankful it was only Diver....!!! So put that C word out of your vocab and don't give it any energy.

Just to affirm that you don't need to worry, there is a simple blood screen test that you should ask your doctor to request. It's a simple blood draw and they will request to look for certain "markers" that might suggest "colon" cancer. I had this done because of my scare. In less than a week I had the test results in my hand than I did not have any (they tested for ovarian, colon and pancreatic)! It helped me focus on getting better, instead of worrying about being sick. Your mind can really mess up your body if we allow it.

As far as your weight loss....we all are different. After my trip to ER and several days on a liquid diet...I had lost 10 lbs! But prior to my attack I had put on about 15 because my system just wasn't working correctly. I'm in the trial process of figuring out my diet....and even with tons of water, eating healthier and lots of fiber, I put back on 13 lbs!!! It's making me crazy. But I have come to understand that I'm still in the healing phase (diagnosed in April after 2-3 years of chonic attacks that were "undetermined".)

I am not eating all that much, but the input has been greater than the output (trying to be delicate here!)....and all that psyllium fiber just seemed to bloat me and fill me up more.) You may be having the opposite problem....where it's going through you too fast.

Keep taking a pro-biotic....acidophillus or something recommended by a good health food grocer like Whole Foods.

It doesn't sound like you have a weight problem, so your metabolism might work more efficiently. Mine is very slow...and I need to lose about 20 lbs anyway.

It's very hard to help each other out because our bodies all respond differently.

Take care and keep us posted.
