On November 20 I had 12 inches of my sigmoid colon removed due to a rupture because of severe diverticulitis. I have a 10 inch scar because my surgery was done on an emergency basis. I spent 11 days in the hospital.

How long does recovery take? I was sick for so long I think my recovery may take longer. I need to get back to work sometime.

Aug 06 I had my gallbladder removed. Nov 06 had sphincter of oddi dysfunction with a sphincteromy. Developed gastroparesis in Nov 06 as well. Had 5 episodes of diverticulitis in between all of this.

My question - does anyone else suffer from diverticular disease and gastroparesis? I need to find a way to get fiber in my diet. My stomach doesn't do well with fiber. Has anyone found a supplement that is gentle and effective. My issue right now, and has been, constipation, which I need to avoid.

Thanks,

" All I can say is WOW! I do know 3 people with gastroparesis but not with diverticulitis. I've had a sigmoid colectomy and on the 10th of October will have an ascending colon colectomy. If you cannot eat fiber due to the gastro what about searching for something without fiber that will keep your bowels working properly? If I find something I'll get back to you on this. One of my DD buddies drinks prune/plum juice and/or apple cider to excess and it works. Are you eating any digestive yogurts? Good luck. "
