I Love Diet Coke. I was wondering if drinking Diet Coke hinders your weight loss? Has anyone noticed that by cutting out pop You had more weight loss or faster weight loss?

Diet coke says It has absoloutly nothing in it but is there hidden sugars that I need to cut out?

" The research i've done shows that the aspertame in diet soda,in general...causes the body to react as if it were digesting regular sugar. The problem with this is, that there are no calories for your body to digest, therefore increasing the insulin level in your blood...causing hunger and overeating to compensate for the lack of calories.

Folks who give up aspertame, have an easier time losing weight. Otherwise, you're fighting yourself...and isn't it a battle enough as it is?

Hope this helps...i'm a recovering diet coke addict myself;) "

" I have left out diet coke completed and I have had more success in dropping the weight. What has helped me is after I have finished my 64 oz of water, I drink brewed "green" tea sweetened with "Stevia". Stevia has been a life saver for me. "

" In the research I have done I have found that, besides "causing your body to react as if it were digesting regular sugar", as wrknprogress states, most people continue to eat the same amount of calories per meal, or more because they think they can afford it by drinking a diet drink. Changing the foods you eat to include healthier choices like fruits, veggies, nuts and whole grains, drinking plenty of water, being aware of portion sizes, and exercising (even if it is just walking for 30 minutes a day) are the best things to do to lose weight and maintain long term weight goals. Not to mention all of the other health benefits that come from these kinds of lifestyle changes. "

" I am so glad you asked this question. It never occurred to me that Diet Coke could hinder weight loss. I go through phases where I drink a lot diet soda and then I go through phases where I drink a lot of water.

Does anyone know if Sugar Free Kool Aid is bad for dieting too?? "

" aspartame was originally developed as a pesticide and in general the less chemicals put into your body the healthier your body will be.
I don't really care for soda daily...I enjoyed it when at the movies or with a burger but that's about it.
However, I have discovered Sparkling Water (I think it's Deerpark) with fruit essence...no sugar or artificial sweeteners. It won't taste like cola, but the citrus ones are reminiscent of sodas like 7-UP.
The orange or tangerine one is very good too. "

" In answer to your question, beakers...if it has aspertame in it, just try to avoid it.

The other thing I forgto to mention about soda in general...namely the "brown" colas...the phosphoric acid leaches the calcium from your bones. That's another reason I personally, have to avoid carbonated beverages in general. I take prednisone and I can't afford anymore calcium loss. PLUS...the carbonation affects the o2 levels in our bodies too, making exercise more difficult. "
