Hello my name is Tina. My mother's on dialysis. The reason for me joining this group is to understand what she is going through. How to be there for her. I live in AZ she's in Ca. We just found out due to a test she had her main artery is clot. She will need open heart surgery. She has 6 children. We are all so different and handle things differently. I know i can't be there physically, but I want to be there as much as I can and do my part here. I have already started the process of filling out the living donor form. Yes, I plan to be there when she has her surgery. How important is it to be healthy and to healthy which she doesn't. It upsets me to see the way she eats knowing she's not suppose to be eating this stuff. My time I just have to sit there and watch her eat this bad stuff. What can I to help her make positive changes in her eating. I am over weight myself and working on my weight daily, but working out and eating right. Cuttind down on my eating. Looking foward to hearing from you
Thank you Tina:)

" That's a tough one. No one can change her diet but herself. I've come to the conclusion that some people after a lifetime of eating poorly would prefer to die sooner than change.

Perhaps while everyone else gives her grief over her diet you can be the unaccusing one. She will probably benefit from that more. "

" Thank you so much for support. I just found out I have bell's palsy. I hope to have a speedy recovery so I am able to be there for her. I know this is a serious surgery. I am perparing myself for the out come. How can I talk to my brother's and sister about the possiblity that could happen. No one is willing to talk about it. I not into living my life in denial. How can I approach this issue with my family without upsetting them. My mom is a Strong Christian woman. The faith she is I admire so much. I too a strong Christian. I learned so much from her. I want to be there for family as much as I can. Tina:) "

" My wife completely recovered from Bells Palsey. She believes it was caused by placing a very small fan on her desk blowing on her face. Do you know if constantly blowing air can be the cause? Seems weird.

As for your family once you have brought the subject up to the point where you are irritating them it is futile to press it further. "

" HI TINA, LIKE YOU SAID PRIOR ALL YOUR BRO'S/SISTER DEAL WITH THINGS DIFFERENTLY. I ALSO HAVE THE SAME COMPLICATIONS WITH MUY INTERACTIONS WHEN I'M IN NY. I THINK THE OTHER OPTION YOU MAY HAVE IS TO DISCUSS YOUR FEELINGS WITH A SOCIAL WORKER OR DEAR FRIEND TO VALIDATE YOUR CONCERNS ARE REAL.I KNOW MYSELF SOMETIMES I HAVE TO MUCH CLARITY.WHICH IS AN OUCH FOR MYSELF. JUST ONE DAY AT A TIME.MAYBE HAVE A FAMLIY MEETING ONCE EVERYONE HAS ALL THERE DUCKS IN A ROW PER SAY. REMENBER TO BE SELF TAKE CARE OF YOUR. RELAX AND BREATHE.......WRITE CONCERNA ON PAPER.BEST WISHES........MMM "

" God be with you and your family. It is a lot to go through. The change in diet must come from the person, I agree. You can be encouraging but not a nag. Denial is a real enemy and education a powerful tool. Maybe you could use a free conference call to get your family talking and praying. I wish you and yours the best. K "

" I have come to a decision. I am not going to say for now. I have to worry about my health frist I can only lead by example. I have to start my own process of being healthy for myself and for my children. I believe actions speak louder the words. Tina:) "
