How will the patient feel after dialysis?

My mother just had her first dialysis yesterday. Right after, she was nervous and unreasonable. Today, she is very tired and nervous. She wonders why she is bothering with this whole ordeal if she is not going to feel any better. The family does not know what to expect or how to support and encourage her. Any suggestions?

" The first time is always uneasy, my kidney failure was november last year and until that time i was pretty active and content but complication of diabetes was probably the issue for me. I would say to your mother that she will feel better about it once she has been going regular and her body adjusts over the weeks/months. This has turned her life upon it's head and there are psychological issue's along with the physical one's that family and friends can help he with, eventually she will slot it into her weekly plan without it feeling like her life has been altered beyond all acceptable levels.Ed "

" She'll never be 100% while dialyzing but things get better rather quickly. In a week she should notice a change for the better. Nothing dramatic but still better. "
