Does anyone take Janumet and if so, have you experienced side effects? I believe that side effects include upper respitory infections, stuffy/runny nose, and difficulty breathing. I've experienced all of these and had attributed them to a weakened immune system due to MS. I'm thinking now, however, that all of this might have been the Janumet. I stopped taking it for a week and the symptoms disappeared. I took it again one day this week and noticed shortly afterward that my sinuses were draining. I'd really like to know if anyone else taking this drug has experienced side effects like these.

WOW, this is so strange.... I have noticed the EXACT same things that you have, Never even thought about it being the Janumet, I can't really remember exactly when I changed to Janumet, I think it was sometimes before the end of last year, but it seems like I am not able to get over these symptoms. I have been really short of breath, have you talked to your dr. about this? Maybe we need to do a little research. I will start digging around, let me know if you find anything. Take care!! Lori

Janumet contains Januvia and metformin, and top among the listed side effects of Januvia are stuffy nose and sore throats. I have chronic stuffy nose anyway (I live on Afrin 24/7) and it got worse after I started the Januvia -- really irritating! But for me, at least, it's getting a little better after a couple of weeks. If it gets really bad for you, you might ask to try one of the scripts like Rhinocort or Nasonex (altho no diabetic wants yet another med).
