boils and sugar readings??

my aunt is a type 2 as well as i am.. and she has to take 2 kinds of meds.. (not sure what they are) but she recently got a boil on her leg or butt or whatever i dunno...LOL.. but she told me to watch out for one because if i was to get one.. it could raise my sugar readings.. is this true??.. im not even sure i know what a boil is!!

" Well I know that any kind of infection will raise your blood sugar...and a boil is infection. They are painful and you would know if you had one by the clothing rubbing them. Being diabetic it is important to take care of your skin...especially your feet. I worked in long term care and trust me it is hard to heal wounds on a diabetic. Hope this info helps "

" Shadow geve you a great response...yes..any infection (and a boil is a soft tissue infection) can raise the blood sugars and "boils" are important because often they will only respond to an incision and drainage (I & D) and not systemic antibiotics...
