The diabetes clinic here teaches us to eat 6 small meals a day. Breakie, snack, lunch, snack, dinner and then final snack in the evening. It has been suggested to make the last snack no later then 8 p.m. but I find that too hard. I have trouble sleeping if I have it that early. My snacks consist of something like, a 1/2 cup of fat free yogurt with same amount of cut up fresh fruit/ 4 wasa crackers with 1 oz of cheese/ 1/2 cup of 1% cottage cheese with equal amount of cut up fruit/ maybe 1 cup of fresh raw veggies like carrots and celery with a fat free dip or a small bowl of mixed salad veggies... just as an example. I use the crackers as croutons in my salads sometimes. But to answer your question, no I have never heard of anyone being told to eat like that... kathryn

I was told 40 carbs per meal, with a 15 carb snack once a day. I think men must be able to have more carbs. Also, I am working on losing weight too.

I eat 3 meals and a snack in the evening. I count carbs and calories as part of a weight reduction plan. I eat anywhere from 2-4 carbs per meal. But again it's mandatory that I lose weight, and I have been. I think each person has to take in to account, lifestyle, culture, preferences of food, etc.

Hey, if you aren't being successful as you'd like at what you were doing, it might be worth a try for a few weeks.

Question is the PA T1 or T2? If he is T2 and on a pump I don't know that I would be all that comfortable with that advice AND the amount of carb. I try to stay with very low carbs each meal with none at breakfast, and spread the rest (under 30 if possible) through the rest of the day. that amount of carbs will possibly tend to put weight on if that is something that you do have a problem with, and a lot of T2's do. I find that I work best with 3 meals and two snacks and try to have nothing after the night meal, although I might have something to drink, like a diet soda.
My snacks are usually protein or nuts (almonds are low in carbs) . But as cowboy says everyone is different. My question would be what changed in your life at the time it got out of hand? Was there some upset? A change in food you were eating? Any stress? Any infection? All of those things and more can raise our BSL's If it is something that happened then things should settle down on their own.

I guess all you can do is try the diet and see what it does for you.

the answer to your questions are yue the PA is T2 and there was a BIG BIG upset!!! To make a long story short my brother-in-law sexually assaulted me and ever since my sugar has been through the roof. Before I was on pills and every thing was doing fine but after that I had to be put on insulin. Nothings working. Some say intil I resolve this issue my sugars wont be down, but i've been to 2 psysocologist and 2 psyciatrist and they did.'t help just took my money!! any advise?????
