" I like foodfit.com for inspiration and recipes. It takes time, but cleaning and chopping vegetables ahead and having them handy makes them more usable. Get rid of foods that really tempt you (no pop tarts allowed in my house!) and keep fresh fruit handy.
Sometimes after I work out my blood sugar is low, and I make poor choices. Plan a snack for after your workout and have it ready, maybe an apple and a little peanut butter and lots of water. Good luck and keep working at it. "

" I'm single and 48 and still eat exactly what I did in high school at 17, mostly junk food. So I'm learning to change and that is more difficult then you can know. The first thing I did was dump sodas. Now I drink diet 7-up as it has none of the junk in it. I just ate my first "diet" breakfast this morning and realize that its not what I'd normally opt to eat, but over time I'll adjust to the new lifestyle. So hang in there cause when you make changes ur body can object in difficult ways that make life a bitch. But it beats going blind and having ur legs sawed off. "

" zdawg, not only CAN we know, we DO know what you're going through. And truck: My advice is to start eating less of the things you love, starting off with something healthy like a green salad with a spritz of lemon juice instead of a gloppy dressing. Treat the old, bad foods as dessert or side dish or, better yet, a condiment. Reward success with a brisk walk or 50 pushups. "

" The best advice i can give? Don't use the word "Diet" as when you do, your brain takes over and tries it's hardest to keep you from Dieting. Change your style of eating, change your life for the better. Try out foods that are good for you, yet fun, like brown rice instead of potatoes, mixed bean salad or a nice pasta salad with veggies. For a snack, try multi grain crackers with a little lowfat cheese, some cottage cheese, or even some yogurt (low fat/low sugar, of course, lol). There are hundreds of choices out there... do a little research and shopping will become fun once again. Lots of luck. Deb :0) "

" Best advice I have had: Remember that this is a lifestyle, not a diet. I found that eating 6 very small meals every day really helps me control weight and cravings. Between my 3 major meals, I have the usual veggies, fruit, etc., but I have also found that the Atkins shakes and protein bars are low sugar/high protein and really help me keep on track. I don't do more than 1 per day, but it is quick and easy and sometimes you just need that to keep going. Good luck! "
