A while back, one of my teachers talked to my class about me. I had to leave early to take my test before lunch, and she got into a whole discussion with them while I wasnt even there. It really bugged me because this wasnt a teacher that I even liked and she got a few things wrong. She didnt even ask if it was okay to be talking about my medical problems with people I barely knew. Its not like I wanted to hide the fact that I'm diabetic, but I would have preferred to answe rany questions (or not answer them) myself. Was I right to feel this way or was I overreacting? Has anyone else had a crazy thing like that happen to them?

I think you were right. In fact it has been in the UK news recently that an academic at a university in the UK told a student's mother which modules of the course he was studying and is now in trouble so your teacher could be in big trouble depending on the law where you are. I would bring this up with the headteacher or someone in charge of the teacher, it is a very serious matter.

Although she probably intended to be helpful, she should not have done so. I remember being in school and would most definitely have felt just like you. Like any other disease, diabetes can be embarrassing. Not that it should be, but it can be. Sorry that happened to you.

Well Shatynn, I can feel you totally, she has no right to talk about you and your situation in front of any classmates or anyone, that is your business and if you wanted the whole class to know you would have told them yourself. How do the teacher know that you wanted people to know that you have diabetes in the first place.
I'm sorry, but I have to disagress with livegreen, I don't think that she was being helpful at all. I mean come on, are we kids now or what. I think that maybe you should confront your teacher about this, or maybe change teachers, because who knows how much more about your illness he will tell. Sorry, but I had to say it. (dede)
