I wake up almost every morning with a headache. I realised that after I eat, take my meds, and move around it gets better. This morning I read that it could be a sign that my BS is getting low during the night. Has anyone else done this?

Hi there.Well,I can't really say that it was from low b s,because I am one who NEVER gets headaches...but I recently started a health club/gym and was instructed to up my intake of water.I drank two bottles before bed last night...and woke up with the worst headache of my life.Nothing helped, not caffeine,breakfast...nothing. I,like you, would like to know if this could be diabetes related, because I want to be sure to avoid any triggers again.I hope that if yours is bs related, that you can find some answers, because as bad as my head hurt,I feel tons of sympathy for you.Hugs

It could be from low blood sugar during the night, especially if in the morning it is either high when you wake up or gets high seemingly without a reason during the morning. The only way to know is unfortunately to set an alarm to wake you during the night and test, test test.

I woke at 3am and checked and my BS was at 70. I ate one small piece of hard candy and got up without a headache!!! My BS is normally around 140 to 165 in the morning and today it was 118. I may be on to something.

Well 49...since I am relatively new to this, and HATE the headaches too...I think that they both have given great advice...if I have to check and eat a piece of candy to avoid that miserable headache,I'm sure going to try it.I was told by my doctor that people are walking around, chronically dehydrated too. Just like a hangover...symptoms are headaches, loss of energy and lethargy simply by not being hydrated enough...which is why my doc suggested water(which I honestly cannot take much of)
