hey im on effexor atm and iv lost my sex drive as well as i sleep all the time. i cant stand it but i cant go off it yet due to the withdrawal. sorry i dont have any answers X

I was on anti-depressants and no sex drive, BUT i got rid of the husband and my sex drive is back, lol. But yes he can make u feel that way.

I have been on several meds, including effexor, lexapro, prozac and wellbutrin. I have also had a decline in my sex drive, and in fact, it's almost nil.

I am currently weening myself off of meds and I hope to get back some of what I've lost.

I had many other of the same side affects as you also, like being sleepy, etc...

My psychiatrist gave me Concerta which is a stimulant. I had some rage issues with it, but otherwise I felt more energetic and my drive was more normal. Perhaps you want to try it? I know that I had some problems with it, but I seem to have issues with a lot of drugs and I know it is due to my chemical makeup, so maybe it will work for you...

I've been on wellbutrin, and for the most part it hasn't interfered with my sex drive. I've tried it more than once, and each time I have a slightly different reaction, but most of the time it actually increases my sex drive a little. Maybe it's worth suggesting to your doctor.

*hugs* I hope you find something that will help. I know how frustrating it can be when your meds kill your libido.

I'm on celexa and my sex drive is next to nil. I'm also so tired all the time. I know my husband doesn't understand why I nap 2+ hours on the weekend. I don't know if it's the meds or depression.

Along w/Wellbutrin and Lexapro, my doctor gave me Zyprexa to take as needed for anxiety. I have noticed a decrease in my sex drive.

The SSRI's are infamous for weight gain and sexual side effects. It doesn't happen to everyone, but very common and the reason most people go off of them, even when they are helping. (note: I was on two ssri's at the same time for 5 yrs and lost weight, very unusual, but did have sexual dysfunction) You could try Wellbutrin, which is Dopamine, used to treat depression and does not cause with of these things. In fact, a side effect of Wellbutrin is commonly weight loss. Also, for several years now, psychiatrists have been prescribing Requip for people with sexual side effects from the SSRI's. Requip is actually a Parkinson's medication, but has worked well for sexual side effects for many people. Since it is an off lable use, there are no set recommendations for dosing. People with Parkinson's take up to 24 I think, mgs a day. My pdoc started me on 1/2mg and I got back 50% of my libido right away. I wanted 100% so he upped it to 1mg a day and I got it back 100% and then some. It worked great for me and my doctor tells me for many of his patients on SSRI's are reporting success. If the SSRI's are working and you want to say on them, you could try it. If SSRI's aren't helping anyway, try Wellbutrin or something else and if it still doesn't come back, which can happen, PSSD, post seratonin sexual disfunction,Requip can work for that too. BTW, I had no side effect from the Requip. Good Luck.

my GF had taken a series of SSRI-type drugs over the years, & the common problem for her were exactly that - loss of sex drive & fatigue. her depression was mild enough, & combined enough with both anxiety & ADHD that she was a good match for Wellbutrin, which worked much better for her on all fronts - sex drive normal, able to sleep through the night(insomnia was an issue) but wake rested, even weight loss.

i've been on wellbutrin on & off for awhile (on right now - & i'm gonna stay on), & i notice a slight increase in sex drive, but they may just be an effect of the alleviation of depression.
