From time to time members drop off DS; they don't close their account, they just stop being active. This gets their friends worried. Could we have some feature that lets DS send an email to them after certain periods of inactivity? Is there a way that other members could create a short message to them that DS would forward to the email account they use with their DS account?
I know there are privacy issues, but it would be nice to be able to let the missing members know that they are indeed mised. Just a thought. Posted on 07/22/08, 12:07 pm |

I'm a missing member. In fact i can't get into my old account. forgot the email. I see the last hug was april of 2007. so i see none of my friends gave a crap. don't really know why i made another account. I feel like deleting friends i have on now. they act like the so called friends i had before. oh well. I come on here to look for post i can relate to. don't participate much. just wonder through the stuff. ok sorry for the rant.

I think its a good idea Pepper, but would also add that those who do drop off the radar, if possible, let their freinds know that they in fact are ok, just maybe taking a break whatever. Just think it works both ways...

I agree. I know with a past friend I had on here, she had needed alone time. I now consider that a red flag. How do you know if they really need"alone time" or if they're contemplating something else. In my book, alone time is not healthy. Just my thoughts. Helen

When you send a message to that member, if they elected to receive notices from DS (which most people have), your message generates an email to them letting them know you have sent them a message.

i like this idea! a lot switch off notifications (like me!) so dont get emailed all the time but i do get messages from doug occasionally about ds changes.
