Keep The Alter Of Private Prayer Burning

http://i111.photobucket.com/albums...
Ps 51:16 For thou desirest not sacrifice; else would I give it: thou delightest not in burnt offering.17 The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit: a broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
Ps 119:1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. KJV

"The fire shall ever be burning upon the altar; it shall never go out."
Leviticus 6:13

Keep the altar of private prayer burning. This is the very life of all piety. The sanctuary and family altars borrow their fires here, there- fore let this burn well. Secret devotion is the very essence, evidence, and barometer, of vital and experimental religion.
Burn here the fat of your sacrifices. Let your closet seasons be, if possible, regular, frequent, and undisturbed. Effectual prayer availeth much. Have you nothing to pray for? Let us suggest the Church, the ministry, your own soul, your children, your relations, your neighbours, your country, and the cause of God and truth throughout the world. Let us examine ourselves on this important matter. Do we engage with lukewarmness in private devotion? Is the fire of devotion burning dimly in our hearts? Do the chariot wheels drag heavily? If so, let us be alarmed at this sign of decay. Let us go with weeping, and ask for the Spirit of grace and of supplications. Let us set apart special seasons for extraordinary prayer. For if this fire should be smothered beneath the ashes of a worldly conformity, it will dim the fire on the family altar, and lessen our influence both in the Church and in the world.
The text will also apply to the altar of the heart. This is a golden altar indeed. God loves to see the hearts of His people glowing towards Himself. Let us give to God our hearts, all blazing with love, and seek His grace, that the fire may never be quenched; for it will not burn if the Lord does not keep it burning. Many foes will attempt to extinguish it; but if the unseen hand behind the wall pour thereon the sacred oil, it will blaze higher and higher. Let us use texts of Scripture as fuel for our heart's fire, they are live coals; let us attend sermons, but above all, let us be much alone with Jesus.

Charles Spurgeon

Love to all!

" that lady in the video is not me at all. i wouldn't even go to another person's house to substitute for someone elses wife. i like my peace and quiet here. its DS's responsibility to tell me what I can and can't do. Not yours. I didn't attack anyone in the beginning post. Daisylou attacked me. I think she's sorry and I am sorry so let it go. I am going to post Christian based topics for those who need help. It was a really good post. "

" yes we are all entitled to post most things we would like to if they are not offensive, but i do feel that such a heavily religious post does belong in the christian group and NOT in the improving the community section. also, to me, they ARE offensive. i do not post about my religion and my beliefs because i feel there is a time and place and the main sections of this site are not it, so why should christian posts be seen as any different? i do try to ignore the religious posts but it does bother me when someone yells well just ignore us then if a non christian comments on it. this bothers me because i have seen far too many "christians" comment on posts they too "could just ignore" and far too many of them pass judgements on myself and my friends based on their beliefs...not ours. so i have to ask, why post things like this outside of the christian groups other than to stir things up? to me that is simply rude and disrespectful to all of us. " Survivor - I myself and others who have posted something of a religious nature in the Depression Forum usually include in the topic a Warning: Religious or Warning: God or something of that nature. That indicates to others that it is a depression topic that has religious or God related overtones. That way, those who are offended by religous posts can just choose to ignore it. And therefore, if they do read it, it's there problem and not yours. There are many posts in the depression forum that don't belong there and that are offensive or triggering to others besides religous ones ie, political comments or racial based comments and so forth and if anyone is offended by them, they can just avoid them...assuming the topic posted is clear about the content. But if you really want to post something religious, especially Christian based, feel free to come to my Christian Forum and post there. At least you won't have to defend yourself or risk offending anyone.

Daisy - great job on your last post. That was a good job with the apology. "

" i thought the topic spoke for itself. it would have been better in the off topics though. (although, speaking for myself only, prayer would improve the community as a whole.)

" Yes..you are right. The topic is self explanatory. Therefore those who are offended by religious topics could have easily noticed it and chose not to read it.

I agree prayer would improve the community as a whole and individually but you have to realize some don't believe in prayer. Those that don't believe in prayer will tell you that you are "trying to force God down their throat". I never understood that as it's just a harmless prayer and again, if they know it's coming they don't have to read it. If they are offended because you put a prayer out there...and they know what it is before they read it...well that's there problem and not yours. There are alot of people in the Christain forum who would embrace this kind of post more so then in the Depression forum regardless of how much good you and I think it will do for them. "

" InHisHands...I totally agree that in the proper locale, "off topics" this post should not be hit on by non-believers. Also the Christian fellowship group would be very receptive. I do believe we should be able to post on the main boards if prayer, reading the Bible etc. are helpful to our depression. That is sharing what works for us and like you said, as long as we notate on the title, it should not draw fire, but you know it will and that is not only sad, but ridiculous. PEACE TO ALL! "
