I hate this. I take a sleep med and go to bed and in the early morning hours (2:45 this morning) I am wide awake. grrrrrrr

I have a therapy appointment today in the city. I have to drive 2.5 hours to get there and my sister who usually goes with me can't go today. I'm on my own and I'll be exhausted.

I would give anything to get a full night's sleep. My pdoc says my sleep med should work for a full night's sleep. I tell him it doesn't. We've tried so many sleep meds, I've lost track. I hate this insomnia. I hate it.

Thank goodness I am retired. But on therapy days I really want to sleep the full night.

Notice how this is making very little sense? I am a mess. I am fat, stupid, ugly and worthless. I hate myself.

" I have difficulty sleeping too. Tried all sorts of things.......yoga breathing, milky drink, soothing music, pills and lavendar oil on my pillow. I'm sure you're not fat and ugly. Everyone has a redeeming feature. Good luck with the therapy. "

" Please don't think about yourself like that. I know it runs though me too. But please do fight it it.

I fully understand you on the lack of sleep. It's has been 17 days since I have had a good night's sleep. "

" You are not any of those things you mentioned.

I agree with all the thing Disipirted said. There's nothing like warm milk with a touch of nutmeg to put you too sleep. Also I bought one of those Delta Brainwave CDs. It's very helpful, but you must listen to it with earphones. Those always drop me.

Also hot aromatherapy baths knock me out. You can make your own with a cup of sea salt and add between 4-6 drops of lavender oil. However my fave combo is Lavender and Rose. In fact, I'm gonna go do that! "

" I hate insomnia. Have you tried Trazadone, Elivil, or Remeron? If not, you might want to mention them to your doctor. Remeron is heavy duty, but comes with weight gain sometimes. Your doctor can make the call. Good luck, hope not to see ya here in the middle of the night. "

" Oh my how I can relate!! I've used Trazadone most of my life (I always had weird reactions to sleeping pills) and now mostly rely on Amitriptyline and Atarax. I've also gone to a sleep therapist-she helped lots!! "

" Sleep is one of my hardest things to achieve, but i try to have a cup of milk and toast with peanut butter before bed. I also stop watching TV and relax in bed sometimes just doing some deep controlled breathing helps. I never had any luck with the meds. "

" Girl, please don't say that. I am struggling too, so I know. I stay tired all the time, but for me I can't go into a deep sleep. I miss that precious sleep cycle too. My primary doctor put me on Seroquel and it knocks me out, but I still don't go into a deep sleep, it's like 1/2 of me is not asleep. I hope you find something else that works for you! :) "
