" All medications have various side effects and work differently on different people. Anti-depressants take at least a month to get into your blood stream and a few months to really start working. (according to my doctor) You may or may not notice a difference for a while. When I took Cymbalta I did not feel sleepy, but I did faint and feel dizzy for the first couple months. I hope it works out for you! =) "

" When I took Cymbalta it didn't work for me but with most meds you don't feel the full effects for up to 8 weeks. I am just know feeling the full effects of mine and it has been 3 months since I started them back up again. "

" I started Cymbalta a week ago too and am up to the 60mg in less than a week. It makes me feel a bit queasy. That feeling is slowly getting better with each day. I have been taking 30mg in the morning and 30mg at night but will soon just take 60mg in the morning. I used to take Zoloft but had stopped back in Jan on my own. I think my body knew immediately when I took the Cymbalta that this was something it was missing! "

" I've been on Cymbalta for almost a month ? I think. I'm @ 40 mg's. I've taken quite a few anti-depressants in the past and this one has the least side effects. I don't feel tired, sometimes a tiny queasy but it passes quickly. For me, it working out well so far. Hope it works for you too... "

" I've been taking 60mg Cymbalta in the morning for about 13 months now. No big side-effects that I can tell of. Hope it works for you- if not talk to your Dr. and express concern. "

" I've been on three anti-depressants during my recovery, including Paxil, Zoloft, and now Cymbalta. Of the three, Cymbalta has the least side effects and the most positive effects on my mental well being.

However, you might be different. It usually takes 2-4 weeks for an anti-depressant to really be felt in terms of moods, emotions, and so on, so give it time. If you find it doesn't work after a month or two, go back to your doctor and tell them you might need to try something else. Good luck! "

" I've been on Cymbalta for about 6 months now and I LOVE it. I've tried Lexapro and Celexa, and this doesn't make me as tired or gain weight like those did.
I do take them at night because they make me drowsy for a coupla hours if I take them in the morning, but Lexapro used to make me feel tired all the time...even when I took them before bed. Now I'm slightly wired before I go to bed, but I'm dealing with it and it's cool...much easier to deal with than the alternative.
60mg is the therapeutic dosage, so give it a bit to kick in. 30mg isn't always quit enough, especially if you're coming from a really bad place.
Hang in there. I know what it's like...I guess most of us do or we wouldn't be on this board.
Here's something that weird but works; tapping. Not sure how or why, but it's wonderful.
Here's how you do it:
1) With the index and middle finger on your right hand, tap the side of your left hand (the flat part that you would do a karate chop with). Tap it repeatedly about 15-20 times.
2)Now do this again on your left arm on the topside of your wrist.
3)Tap the top of your head
4)Tap your forehead (tap a little longer here)
5) Tap your face just under your right eye
6) Tap your face just below your nose
7) Tap the front of your chin
8)Tap your chest
9) Tap your back by reaching under your left armpit
While tapping, repeat a mantra of self affirmation. I generally say, "Although I have this (insert painful feeling here), God still loves me, and I'm going to love and support myself."
I used this a lot when I was trying to live life without meds (which sucked).
I know it sounds completely stupid, but try it. Give it at least a few days, doing it whenever you hit a tough spot. Let me know how it works. "
