I just want to know about people's experience using Lexapro. I've just started taking it, as of today, and I'm wondering how it has effected people who have used/are using this medication.

I have been using it since May/June (I cannot remember when exactly).
After it was prescribed I looked around a bit online for other people's experiences, and saw a lot of folks complaining about having ZERO temper/tolerance and really bad anger spells. I haven't experienced this, myself, unless I miss several dosages in a row. Then I am totally out of control, literally throwing things against the wall and crying uncontrollable. It's bad, honestly...real bad. I accidently missed two days while we were moving, and then once before that...and reacted the same way both times. It upsets me a lot, since I -really- want to be able to get off of it.

Thanks for the reply LiberaMe. I really hope I don't have spells like that. I don't have much of a temper and to suddenly develop one if I miss a dosage is kind of scary to think about. Hopefully I won't have to suffer with those types of spells! Thanks again!

I used it for 3 months, it did nothing for me, i went into crisis care and got put on Effexor.
I am not on meds now though.

I have been on Lexapro for 9 months to treat my depression and anxiety. I wasn't sure if it was helping until I stopped taking it. 10 days after stopping, I had a bad depressed episode that lasted 4 days. I immediately went back on it and after 4 days or so, I was feeling much much better. Today, I have my depression and anxiety in check.
The only side effect I have is a very low libido.

I was taking if for 21/2 months, I just took myself off it, the 10mgs wasn't doing anything and the 20 made me a manic maniac, no one was safe. I stopped it cold turkey about 5 days ago and have felt horrible since hoping that gets better soon.

I used it for at least 10 years. When I would try and get off it, I became very depressed again. It caused me to gain a lot of weight. It also caused me to not really care about things around me. The doctor finally took me off that and I was put on prozak. I'm doing much, much, much better. Losing weight, knowing and caring what is going on.
