Do you ever find that, when everything is falling apart around you, you are able to remain calm in teh face of it? But you can tell that, at some point, the dams going to break and you're going to fall into the pit of despair?
How the hell do you let it all out before you reach the pit? Posted on 12/03/08, 12:12 am |

I can relate to this idea.
Chaos...despair.... I do not (generally) let it out before it gets scary. I see it coming...I see it. But, have thus far been unable to avoid the awfulness. I have personally been able (after so many times) to hold up my hands/arms and deflect it a bit....so that I can avoid going over the cliff.

I deal with whatever it is....with my teeth nearly ground to nothing....then, well...I hide. Every day I get through a day at work all I want to do is get home, lock the door, and hide. Strangely enough it's actually better than it was years ago; at least I can get out the door and GO to a job every day. But I have that dread EVERY morning. Is this helping you? I'm not sure lol; but I can only share my own experience. But it does get better. The dread doesn't last all day like it did. Now it's pretty much gone after my first cup of coffee at work.
And I come on here. This is the first place I've found that I can say things like "I feel like sh*t and don't know why" and I don't get inane comments like "well can't you just figure it out and get past it?" Well Duh squared!!

Since you asked, here is my answer:
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference. pretty much does it for me.

This is a good question. It sounds like you are aware of a pattern which could be dangerous to your emotional balance.
You know best what triggers you to fall down. If you are like most of us, you will not always be able to be super-human and avoid the storm. Try to pay attention and perhaps note down exactly what is happening when you feel this storm appearing. You may not be able to change things but facing them as honestly as possible will give you the information and strength to do so when you are ready. And - support from others is beneficial - vital I might say.

Thnaks guys.
The only things I find that help me are walking or exercising in general, going out with friends, writing and snuggling up with my fiance. But, as we all know, sometimes there isn't much you can do in the face of the sotrom. I went to therapy last night and it was there that it occurred to me just how well I've handled a really bad couple of weeks and then I realised that was the thumping, pounding, taught feeling. There's only so much you can take.

i get out stress by playing guitar and breaking many strings. Its a great release for me and it doesn't bitch, complain, disagree or tell me i suck at it even though i know better.
