" You can usually google most meds or try the NAMI site.

Can't tell you about prozac or any other SSRI's sorry cos I'm allergic to them and take MAOI's instead "

" My mom's on Prozac and it has worked WONDERS. Sexual side effects (lack of Libido) you might eat more/less than usual, lightheadedness (is that a word), stuff like that. You may be cranky and actually feel worse for the first week, but Prozac generally works quickly, like...within the first 2 weeks.
~hugsnkisses and good luck! "

" I've been on Prozac now for two weeks. The first week was very hard. I was tired all the time. I feel much better now, but I'm experiencing tremors. I am starting to feel better mentally, however, so I think it is worth it. Everyone's chemistry is different - just something to keep in mind. "

" Prozac only?? if you are bipolar being on an antidepressant only can trigger a manic episode.

Prozac is a good 'bandaid' antidepressant - to get through a period of time of depression...different people had diffeent results with it....I had good results, after going through a tormenting period of time of increased suicidality.

But you tend to need more and more of it to get the same effect until you can't take any more. It's not a bad place to start, some people take it for years. "

" What's funny is that the definition of an "effective" drug is that it works maybe 40% (or so) of the time. Yeah. So it may take a few tries to find one that actually "works."

Meanwhile, try wild yam extract--it's great:) (And not a drug, so no side effects!:)) "

" hi ive been on prozac for many many years until i felt a change was need because i felt my body had got used to them they worked wonders they make you very tired for the first couple of weeks and they usually take at least that length of time to kick in so dont expect miracles straight away and with me i felt as if they increased the feelings of anxiety a bit for a couple of weeks but i would say once they are in and woking they are the answer to lots of problems that and good therapy! so stick with them and i hope you feel better soon xxx "
