I know, it's off topic, but I am desperate. My son has been in counselling for over a year regarding school refusal. Nothing has worked, and we're falling apart as a family as he continues to turn every morning into all out war. Does ANYONE have a book, resource, website, support group, method for coping with School Refusal / Phobia? Any information will be appreciated.

Nice to see you back here Juice.
Have you thought about homeschooling? Just a thought. Sometimes this works when all else fails to get them to go to school. I shouldve done it with my eldest. Good luck. xx

Thanks SueOz. We have dabbled with it, but his Psych has said he needs to conquer his fear of school or it will impact on him for the rest of his life. I don't know how much truth there is in that. Also, my younger son has started to act up about going to school so I think he's learning from Ben. I just don't know where to turn.

We don't know. We just can't get to the bottom of it. He says he's scared of getting sick, but I suspect it's more a separation anxiety issue.

If it is separation anxiety will the school let you sit with him or in his class for a few days until he is more comfortable?

You have a problem and I think there is help somewhere for your son. Maybe talk to the school to see if they can recomend something. I wish you luck. Peggy

My son absoluly made every morning a battleground going to daycare..I never did find out what was bothering him, but I changed datcares and he made remarkable progress. I think that the Psych doesn't know what he is talking about..kids have reasons..
