Hey everyone, I'm new here and I have a question. I've been on 75mg/150mg/and now 225mg of EffxorXR. I still seem to have bad days so my doc just keeps uping my dosage. I've done some research and it tells me that EffxorXR can go up to 450mg. So if I'm having sleepy spells and forgetfulness now... Wont I just be a walking vegetable?

" I know that is what happened to me years ago when they kept upping the dose on my paxil. I couldn't take effixor do to side effects, I've often heard effexor called "sideffexor" because of how many it seems to have.
Instead of continueing to up the does I'd discuss trying something else. There is no one size fits all when it comes to things like anti-depressents and many people have to go through several different ones to find what works best for them. This is one area where being proactive is very important. Also make sure you look up the drugs you are proscribed and check for side effects so you are on top if/when you have them, some of them are just not worth any benefit the drug might have. It is wise to be aware of what kind of interaction your meds might have wiht other things you may be taking too. It is sad but true that very often your doctor does not know how meds can interact, they just dont have the time to read all the important literature that comes with meds and that can hurt you. "

" You might get to a point where you need to try something else, or add something to what you're taking now. You might then take a lower dose of Effexor. "

" I was on effexor for a short time, but I don't remember the dosage. Some meds don't have increased side effects with increased dosages. My doc has done the same thing, continued to increased the dosage. I would talk to your doc about the side effects and your concerns. I'm now above what some sources say is the max dosage of my med.
