Doug, we all respect you and the team of DS staff. Many of us believe that DS should change the policy of banning a member for life. Many of us don't think it is right or fair. People make mistakes, we're all human. They should be given another chance. DS is here for us members, right? We collectively believe that our voice should count for something, it should matter what we wish for and agree upon regarding DS, assuming it is not harmful or destructive to the community. This petition is submitted with all due respect to you and your staff.
The purpose of this post is to allow DS members to stand up and be heard. We collectively petition you and your staff to reconsider your policy of banning a member for life. Fellow members, if you wish, please participate in this post by simply typing in a yes or a no. Please, please, please don't use this post for discussion or debate. (That will only confuse the issue and make it hard for DS to count the votes.) Just yes or no. I want DS staff to be able to easily count the votes at the end of this post. A yes or no will automatically bump the post. Please only "vote" once. My idea is to let this run for one week, then send it to Doug. Should members that have been banned be allowed back to DS? Please type in your "YES" or "NO." Posted on 05/10/08, 08:05 am |

Maybe we should adopt the 3 counts and your out rule, which would give people time to modify their behaviour if needed but not be excluded immediatly. But like the other DS member I think it depends on what they have done to warrant being banned. For life does seem a bit strong.

YES, because there is always the option of re-banning if they break the rules.

Like I said on thepepperman's thread, the best thing possible that DS could do is check out reports and see whether members are actually breaking rules or whether they are just being reported out of spite.
If they did this then it'd all be a non issue as memebrs wouldn't be being banned for no good reason.

Lol, right Kate? It baffles me teh way they operate this site sometimes. I mean ok, yes it's a free site but they must get plenty of revenue from ads.
It worries me the way they treat mentally ill people. I think there needs to be stricter guidelines for these types of websites. I mean, fss, what if they banned someone who, at that point, ahd little else besides DS and then they decided to end their life? Not highly likely ok but still a possibility.
