Can anyone tell me how it is like to go to group therapy? What do they do? My friend want me to go with her because we both have a lot of problems that we need to solve in order to go on with our life.

" I go to a group therapy session.

It's quite nice.

I go for "OCD group therapy".

Personally, i'd advise not going with your friend.

Go separately.

It's a little journey that's probably best to make alone. Two friends might upset the group dynamic.

Try it - you could always not go back. "

" it is a very supportive place to get help...
you will be given the opportunity to talk but never forced.
I like cause it makes you feel not so alone in your issues. "

" I used to go for group therapy and found it really helpful and to answer your question about what happens after the group session well the group session would last an hour then most of us would go to the pub after and socialize for the next 2 hours!! (lol) I say go for it "suck it and see" as they say and if it works for you then GREAT! good luck. "

" Group Therapy is basically people sitting
around, and sharing their painful moments
with others.
I myself have tried this, and felt to ashame
to speak about my problems to that many
people.
In the long run one on one canceling helped me the most!!

BRAVE "

" I have done 6 therapy groups. I love them, they open so many doors, sometimes it can be confronting and painful, but with the work you do from the therapy makes the outcome so worth it.
You get out of it what you put in.
From the 6 groups i have kept in touch with 2 people, our journey is our own sometimes our pace does not match the others in the group, so i stuck with those who live similar to me. But many of the womyn keep in touch with each other and have become great friends. "

" Group helped a lot during my post-military phase of life when I was transitioning from LantFlt back to CivLant after a tour through some of the middle east's garden spots (Persian Gulf duty). I would talk about what was bothering me, someone would call me on what I had saying or was leaving unsaid, then it would be someone else's turn to share. We would get intense, and then we'd get close and when it was over, we'd go to IHOP (This pre-dated Starbucks) for coffee and more talk. "
