Hi all

I suffer severe depression and chronic anxiety.

I also have an auto immune thyroid and disease.

I been taking thyroxine and cipramil for 2 years now. I find thryoxine increases my anxiety.

Cipramil/Citalopram use to work but now does nothing for my anxiety and depression. However I liked how it was easy to use without too many symptoms.

My doctor thought i should try Effexor. I not sure cause i heard it has soooo many side effects.

Anyone tried both?

I also was considering Prozac. (with consultation with psych/gp of course)

" To be honest hun, there is no magic pill that sorts eeryone out. Everyones depression is different, just as their body chemistry and thus their reactions are different.
Saying that, if it will quell some concerns, I have been on both and had no adverse effects. :) "

" thanks kate, why you call yourself curvy?

i more worried about its affect on my already hightened anxiety disorders, due to thyroid meds.

doctors dont know everything and like you said, some people react differently. but im hoping a new med might help with depression not make it worse. "

" I'm on Prozac and I find it works for me. But like Kate said, everyone is different. I would suggest working closely with your doctor on this one. "

" Whatever you try you have to give them a chance to kick in; I give mine an 8 week deadline!
But remember that you may feel a likkle bit worse whilst waiting for them to get into your system; sit that out and give them a chance to help. x "

" Dear fizzypop,
Effexor XR, is a medication I take, along
with other meds. Effexor XR has done
me a world of good! I had severe anger
inside, and it took this edge away. I do
say that it does have a calming effect
without causing me to be sedated.
You might consider trying it. I
certainly think being persistent in
life, is extremely important! Take
great care!

BRAVE "
