Does anyone else have one of these for their child? We are getting ready to put one in place for my daughter at school. it will go into effect next fall, it is an accomodation plan for her to be able to get through the school day with less stress and frustration, I had never heard of it until now, I am happy that we are going to be able to do something to help her at school. I was just wondering if anyone had one and how it was working?

I have one for my son. Know your rights. You can ask for this to be changed at anytime. And it should take affect immediatly not in the fall. It follows your child every year. I dont know if this website will help but it might http://advocacyiep504.com/page5.html always communicate with the school in writing. Keep records, start a file.

thank you. the reason we are starting it in the fall is because there is only about 6 weeks of school left.the school has been great as far as working with us on helping her the teachers and other staff. but yes I want it in writing. we are going to go ahead and have a meeting and set things up then about 3 weeks before school starts we are going to have another meeting and if something needs changed then make the changes, the therapist we have is going to help us. and hopefully things will be okay. she is going to be in the jr hight side next fall and have different teachers and schedules, so it is going to be a change for her, thank you for your advice and I will get on the website, even though evryone seems to be cooperative, I want to know what is going on and not have the wool pulled over my eyes, I know sometimes that happens, have you seen an improvement in your child since they have this plan?

There has been great improvement but it's since an IEP he is now in special ed do to emotional impairment. He is also on medication that is helping. You can bring anyone you want to the meetings for your support and it helps to have others there to make sure you understand and remember everything. Good luck to you and your family.
