People who have joined this support group are desperate for information. So why is it so few questions get any response? There are so many with 0 or just 1 answer. Can't we help each other out more with our experiences? This is a tough subject for sure. We really need each other. This is such a tragic disease and not all of the information is available on the alzheimer's website. I've learned so much from the few topics posted. I just hope more people will open up and help others too. Two heads are better than one; four are better than two. Imagine the information we can offer each other when we spend a few minutes sharing!

I would agree that there seems to be a lot less input here than on some of the other support groups. But I found one thing interesting is that most of us are trying to support others with this desease, who are not capable of adding their input, and a good share of the other groups have people who are effected directly and provide valuable input. Maybe that's a small part of it.
I also think it's hard to find any way to reply to such tough questions sometimes. There are so few answers. BUT...any little advice does help. Things as simple as how I figured out that putting on music helps calm my Dad enough to shave him by reading about someone else trying this with showers. Maybe your post will help others realize that even just a simple response or words of encouragement can go miles when you feel like you're drowning. I'll try to do better too! Cathy

So far I think I've had great luck. Great response (except one) and great support. I really enjoy looking at old posts that are relavant to what I'm going through. Thanks to you all. :) I hope I can help someone too.

Hi everyone, I just joined this group this morning. I have been a part of the caregiver's support group almost since it began. I take care of my mom who is 94. She does have dementia and a touch of Alz. according to one Dr. I am happy to try and help anyone with support and encouragement. As I have looked at some of the discussion questions, there are things I have no answers to becasue I have not and probably will not deal with them. But I am very familiar with caring for an elderly parent, both pros and cons and will be glad to talk with any of you.
