Do you have both Degenerative Disc Disease and Fibromyalgia? Were you in a car wreck(even minor)?
Which was diagnosed first? Please let me know as I'm kinda studying a correlation between all three. Thanks, Camiam Posted on 06/11/08, 06:06 pm |

There are theories that fibro starts after some kind of trauma, like a care wreck. good luck!

I have all of those. A lot of it is degenerative, but 2 car accidents in the last year and a half didn't help. I think it pushed the pain, etc. into high gear. The last accident was a year ago May. My shoulder is still as hard as a rock. I've had physical therapy, massage and a cortizone shot in my shoulder. The rock is still there. I will swear that the last one caused damage.

YES!
Car wrecks as well as small fiber autonomic problems CAN and will have problems after car wrecks. With advance testing they can determine if autonomic problems are heriditary and/or from a tramatic event such as a car accident. Fibromyalgia effects your small fibers causing autonomic problems.

Come check out the neuropathy group and search for the topics that have "autonomic" in the subject line.

yes all of the above, my ddd was noticed in my early 30's before the Fibro was dx'd, my fibro symptoms, now that I understand them, probably started within a year after my first accident when I was 20, my stress levels increased with my second child at 25, then my life was a chronic pain after 28, I was getting a handle on it and was nearly symptom free for 2 years before my second accident 4 years ago, I have been a mess since then, my discs ruptures @ the 2 yr mark after this last accident. my fibro is mostly out of control and now I have neuropathy over most of my body, having spurs in my thoracic scoliosis region is making things more complicated, also the plantar fasciitis, is crippling me. I too have studied this topic a little, and I fit the bill for everything I am going thru, due to the trauma my body has sustained, I fear what I will go thru in my brain down the road. let me know if you have any other info on that topic, I havent had an mri, only cts and xrays, also bone scans when dx'd with the fibro. mri was not available in my area then it would mean a long distance journey to have it. hopefully the surgeon will request one when and if I ever see him, Gotta love the BC specialist waitlist. but am thankful for our medical coverage,.
