" If you read through previous posts, there is fairly regular mention of depression. I think it is quite a common experience for a serious condition like DVT/PE.

When I was first diagnosed and found this site, I remember reading people's post about feeling depressed. I rather naively thought "as if I'd still not be 100% in 2 months time" and "as if I would let it get me down"...

... And then when I got to my 3-month anniversary! I had an emotional meltdown! I was in tears every day for 2 weeks.(Sometimes 2 or 3 times in the day, depending on who I talked to!) And I eventually managed to pull myself together.

I don't know if what I experienced was depression technically, but it sure felt like it to me! I had a very difficult time, and found it very hard to cope.

The people in this support group ARE supportive, so I'm sure you will get some more advice/encouragement!

Good luck! "

" Oh YES!! I was fine emotionally the first several months after my DVTPE, or at least I thought so. My family Dr felt differently and said I was the most complicated case of anxiety he'd ever seen, so he finally convinced me to take Lexapro which really put me in a tailspin and I had a complete breakdown. I finally ended up with a therapist and psychiatrist and am on effexor. It's been a long 10 months since then but slowly I'm getting back to being me. One other thing that helped was getting my own Coagucheck machine, just makes me feel safer that I can check my INR whenver I want. I think everyone on coumadin should have one!! If you go to "The heart.org and go to their thrombosis page they have a panel discussion talking about the new anticoagulants coming out in the next few years and they all say until the new anticoagulants are out everyone should have an INR machine.

Get with a good therapist an consider going on an antidepressant. Having DVTPE is bad enough, give your mind a break. We're all in this together!! "
