recently i have had really bad pain in my ribs (felt like i was kicked by a horse) so i decided to take some tylenol for it for the last 3 days or so i have been taking the maximum recomended dose. fnot only has it helped with the pain in my ribs but i have also noticed the gas pains i have been having is much less, i havnt been going as often and not at all at night and there has been absolutly no blood. i was wondering if any one else has had a similar experience (im definatly going to be asking my dr about it at my next apointment)

" Christian,

For people with OUR condition (UC or CD), it's not normally recommended (unless the benefits outweigh the cost) to take ANTI-INFLAMMATORIES (such as CELEBREX, ADVIL- aka, Motrin, Ibuprofen, etc). Such drugs are not only hard on our stomachs, but hard on our intestines as well, and can cause even more pain and bleeding than what we might 'normally' experience.

Tylenol (acetaminophen, generic name) is the recommended drug, as normally for pain we will receive Vicodin or Norco, etc, which contain the main ingredient of acetaminophen.

Previous comment, it does do damage to the liver. But in any case, we all must realize that any drug will do some damage somewhere in our bodies, but compared to Ibuprofen/Motrin/Advil, Tylenol is our friend.

Good luck! "

" I take tylenol (acetaminophen) from time to time for pain. sometimes it's enough, but sometimes i have to go for the vicodin (which has acetaminophen in it as well, but also a stronger narcotic pain reliever). i find vicodin really helps me with nausea also for some reason, whereas i get no relief with anti-nausea meds like zofran. unfortunately, for the mundane headache i get every so often, tylenol does nothing for me - oh how i miss ibuprofen which always zapped my headaches away in a flash.
