I hope this will be a good discussion for those with Post or recent MI's or Heart Attacks over the short term and over the long term . If it inspires hope then great but there are obviously dangers and cautions one should take and noone really has the same rates of healing as the next person .If anything it will give people who are wondering what their future holds a little insight . If you have something to add by all means please do ...

Myself I found the first 6 months almost completely a healing process after the 6 months things in a way got better and got worse at the same time . What got better was the effect of metoprolol it was less overcoming and I feel more awake especially with the onset of warmer weather . I'm not sure if warmer weather makes a difference but the cold and cold winter was a little testing of ones wit . I think it takes a long time to get used to all post MI ups and downs but there is hope because I occasionally converse with individuals much older than I who no longer use any heart meds and have been free and fine of the condition of post ups and downs with proper care and eating right for 2 decades or more . I find I am able to perform daily activities quite well and even equal to what I have before the MI just not as efficiently , fast , or with as much vigor and intensity . My MI was 1 year ago I am in my late 40s.

" You are very young to have to suffer a MI. I am very glad to hear you are now doing well. I also am lving and enjoying each day. I suffered a MI on 12/24/07. Yes that is correct Xmas Eve. I thought I was recovering pretty well I was back to work in 6 wks. After 2 months I had a GI bleed which required hospitalization and a blood transfusion. This was a one step forward and 2 step backwards feeling.I was told i have a pylop in my upper stomach which cannot be removed until I can stop my meds for 7 days. That will not happen until at least one year. I started feeling great and had another set back this weekend. A lot of people I spoke with and read about all stated it does take one year of monitering meds, excerise, and diet to recover from a MI. "
