I had triple bypass surgery 15 days ago. My chest is still very tight and the muscle feels bruised. It still hurts. How long will this part of the recovery last. Does the tightness every go away? ...and the pain? I don't care if it takes time, I just want an idea. Thanks!

" I am out two years from by-pass. Take Heart, pardon the pun, you will feel better and yes, the tightness does let up.

Be kind to yourself now. Don't push yourself. Taking it easy now will pay off in a couple of weeks.

Good luck. I hope you get the results you want from the surgery. We live in an age of miricles. Everytime I look at my zipper I thank God. "

" I was told not to drive or go out much for 6 weeks due to my 5 by-passes I had done. It was hard to cough and breath for a while. After about 6 weeks I was feeling pretty good. the tightness does go away as does the discomfort. And the pain usually goes last. (The pain from coughing). "

" I am nine weeks away from qaud by-pass and I still have tightness and some pain when reaching and other light activity. However the pain is not bad enough to require any other pain medicine the ibuporfin.

I take frequent walks with out problem. In fact tonight I went to a party and spent most of the time standing. I was tired and the end but had a great time and laughed a lot with friends (now that is good medicne).

Most likley I will have to rest up tomorrow. As I have found that the day after extended activity I am really fatigued. But that is due, I believe, to prior in activity during early recover. "

" I felt the same way after my quad 2 yeas ago. Believe me it gets better fast. It seems slow but 3 months from now you won't even remember how you felt.

I had a hard time with my legs for a long time after now I can't even remember what it felt like. Believe me the hardest part is behind you "
