My 2nd daughter was born with critical pulmonary stenosis 3 years ago. We are now talking about having a 3rd child. It has been recommended by one doctor that we see a genetic counselor. Does anyone have any experience with this?

" Yep..They go over all your family medical background. Brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles etc. So it would be good to get all the info you can from your family and your hubby's family before heading in.. "

" Yes, we've had genetic counseling and my son has had various genetic testing done since he was about 2 months old. They go over your families medical histories, etc... Unfortunately for us, though, no answers were found to explain my son's birth defects. He is our only child and we are discussing having another as well. We are nervous to say the least as I'm sure you are! We were given the "thumbs up" by the geneticist, but it's still a difficult decision for us! "

" Thank you very much. My husband is scheduled for an echo (I had one not too long ago) and then we'll take our daughter to human genetics. Guess we'll go from there! "
