I wasn't sure where to put this post, but I am here so here will do. I have not dropped in here for some time, things have been travelling reasonably well.
I decided to follow my feeling, despite the doctor wanting to medicate my son for ADHD/Conduct disorder/ODD i chose to send my son to counselling. After about 5 sessions, the difference is amazing. He is much calmer, at home and at school. No threats of violence, I can count on him to do a job, and the whole house is calmer. I would roll our counsellor in gold and stick her on my shelf if I could, she has saved my sanity and given me back my son. We are still finessing a few points for him, but he is 14!! I will be writing an acidic letter to our doctor very shortly, who was waaayyy too interested in medication not the actual problem (I suggested counselling may be needed back then) and I know it's easy in hindsight, but he got this very wrong. My problem now is this... now that son2 is settling, son1 (15yo) and son3 (12yo) are being stupid! By that I mean, they are both off on a school suspension at the moment!! They are breaking simple rules that have been around for a long time, they are loud and obnoxious and won't do regular jobs around the house etc... I have struggled with son 2 for 6 years, and just when I think I can relax, gain some strength and start moving forward, I have 2 more to contend with !! AAARGH!! Son1 has had counselling, son 3 I think at this stage is just following... has anyone else had this? What did you do? Are you still sane? I am finding myself sitting in a chair thinking OMG when will this end. I am VERY tired now, I feel ripped off, I should be able to relax a little now - and I really need to do that. Any advice? i know some times it seems imposable but some times you just have to enjoy thoes moments of sanity that you get it is a long road you have before you and it will take time but thers no switch to hit to make them 'normal" but look at the times whemn they are geting along and enjoy them and think of them when ther doing things to make you CRAZY may you have the peace of a sante and the joy of ten angels

Yes i've gone through all of this..i have been told that when the other kids in the home notice that it seems like more attention is being placed on the other child/children than that's when it seems like they act out...i go through this on a daily basis cause we have a foster home of 3 very special needs/high needs children plus i have twin stepsons that think they don't get attention!
