advice about my 6 yr olds behavior

my 6 year old son is always talking about killing people for simple things " he wont let me borrow his toy im going to kill him" type of thing if he falls over he is dead if i shut my eyes for 5 minutes listening to my mp3 player i must be dead guns knives and weapons in general are a big thing to him, school have even spoken to me about it, he doesnt have a games console we regulate what he watches on tv and i dont allow toy guns knives or weapons of any kind in the house so wheres it coming from and who do i speak to about it? im worrying that im bringing up a future mass murderer my partner thinks im blowing it out of proportion and its just a faze should i be worried?

You didn't mention whether or not he is getting any therapy. Sounds like it wouldn't hurt- at least the therapist can tell you their view point.

I agree I would definantly find a psycologist and have him evaluated. Anytime a child talks about hurting them self or others or actually acts on them we need to take them seriously. Maybe he doesnt understand what death is, or maybe he recently lost a loved one and is reaching out??? either way a psycologist doesnt give medication but will refer if they think its necassary. That is how I got my sons dad to agree to see a psycologist. I would choose a psycologist that works with children and not just a councilor. hope that helps. And besides its better to be safe then sorry and if you catch the problems early on your likely to have less problems and resistance to help when they get older

same thing here... my son is swearing, fighting, drawing scary things... we have NONE of that in our home but he is obsessed with killing and fighting. My husband for YEARS thought I was over reacting because my son wouldn't do these things around him and he would say "boys will be boys"... until the last couple years he did some very attention getting violent things and finally my husband was forced to realize something was wrong. Get him to your dr. and be firm about getting the help you need and anything that is sending off alarms in your mind you let them know. It is very important to catch these things early and you dont' want to down the road say "I should of listened to my instincts"
