I saw an episode of Law&Order Last night (I'm a Law&Oder junkie!) and it had a story surrounding the death of a baby. Well, sort of. The story starts with a pregnant mail carrier who gets wounded because one of the packages was a half done pipe bomb, however the woman sustain some heavy injuries that caused her to go into a coma and be on life support. It turns out the woman was participating in a medical study that spots a gay gene in a fetus before the baby is born. The woman filled out a questionaire in which she points out that she has a gay brother-in-law which in turn made her a perfect candidate. The district attorneys along with the detectives tried to follow leads and track down possible suspects and the found out that the gay brother-in-law made the bomb and was basically going to
jail for it. He was afraid that if the medical study succeeded that the doctor (who BTW beleived in the gay gene) would find a biological link that was trakable to fetuses. Good news for the Gay community? not so much. He was afraid that homophobic parents-to-be would terminate their pregnancies to
avoid giving birth to a gay baby. Logical huh? He didn't want to risk a gay holocaust. Turns out that that mans father strongly disapproves of his sexual orientation and his brother(who is the husband of the wounded woman) is okay with it so some extent. Turns out the doctors say that the woman has a 5% chance of living without the baby, but an almost 0% chance of living if the baby grows full term. Initially the brother(husband) decided to pull the plug on the fetus(hell, he's gay anyways as said the gay gene test) and risk the 5% on his wife. Until some heavy talk with his brother(the gay one and uncle to be) the husband(brother) decided to hold off for two more days to consider
