What would one use to heal blisters under the wafer and tape that holds the coloscopy bag? Most healing cream/ointments makes the waffer side or fall off, what does one do? Thank you for your time.

" At the risk of telling you how to suck eggs....

Make sure that when changing the bag, you wash and dry around the stoma really, really, really well. If your skin will tolerate it use an alcohol swab.

Then I used an item called adapt which is a 'sticky' rubbery type ring that goes around the stoma and sticks to the skin, the bag then sticks to this device. The advantage is that nothing in the bag gets between the wafer on the bag and the skin ie body waste. Whilst I was wearing the bag I began to develop a skin rash and doing this stopped any further problems.

Hope this has helped and good luck.

" You need to talk to an ostomy nurse and get a proper fitting device..There are many products out there for better adhesion and stoma powder is great for making sure things are dry and that the seal is better..I could not use the stoma paste,I had an allergic reaction to it but I was then given a product called an eken ring which kind of looks like a flat glazed donut and is shapable so you can get a snugger fit around the stoma..I would contact your ostomy nurse for some help and guidance though first..Hope this helped and you get some relief soon..Kim "

" I had Colon Cancer Stage 4 in November. Was operated on twice and then sent to a Nursing Home for rehab. Just got home again on May 2nd of this year and started Chem (Xeloda), this past Monday!
I too can't tolerate the paste and am using Hollister bag and we just sent for the seal, Ekan and Hollisters! We are going to use the Ekan ones to ring the hole around the bag or the stoma, instead of paste! You just cut a piece and roll it in your hands till it fits the stoma opening!
By the way, i had a PECT scan un June and am cancer free but they did find 2 suspicious uplifts one on each side of my pelvis, so that is why i am on Chemo!
They couldn't put me on it in the hospital, because i was so sick and almost died! I had an ilostomy done!
Have a great weekend!
Hugs
