Do you constantly feel overlooked for promotions or life in general, or think that good fortune never seems to come your way? They say good things happen to good people, but have you considered that maybe good things happen to those who actively work for them? Life is not a series of random coincidences. Your lot in life is determined directly by the amount of effort you are willing to put towards the goals you want to achieve. If you want that raise, work hard and then approach your boss confidently. Many times a healthy level of assertiveness can go a long way in showing people what you're made of. Don't be afraid to let your inner hero outshine your more logical and reserved self. The return could be huge! Put on your game face and kick some butt!

I suppose with me it is a matter of I have given up.
I got my drivers license at 25, my GED at 26, started college at 27. I graduated with a bachelors degree and an associates degree at the age of 32. No sooner did I land my dream job in TV, than I had a cyst grow in my right eardrum and eat away the bones of hearing behind it. I was deaf in that ear for five months and had major surgery in December. Though I've regained some of my hearing, the ear is still unstable. I'm plagued with the threat of infection constantly. I ended up leaving my TV job because I never advanced due to the ear problems. I went out and got a job a full time job an office assistant, only to be fired three weeks later because I did not "learn fast enough." My next job was as a proofreader/ IT person. They let me go because I didn't answer the phone proficiently enough for them... I took about five phone calls over the two weeks that I was there... the phone hardly ever rang. Its been very discouraging. I don't know what to hope for, to dream for anymore. I feel every time I start to settle into a job, the rug gets pulled out from under me. I started working full time at the age of 16. I had numerous jobs before I went to college, and I never got fired from any of them. I don't know whats wrong with me, or if it is the people I worked for at these recent jobs.

I had a beautiful home, had good paying jobs, and poof, I no longer had my job, and guess what I had to do with my home. Now I'm expected to go on like nothing happened. Like I really want to get back into the game of life after falling flat on my face. No thank you.
