I am so confused as to what to do...I have developed some problem in my neck and right arm that causes a lot of pain. I'm sure it's work related, but I'm not sure if the workman's comp carrier for my company will accept my claim. In the meantime I've been going to work here and there, bcz I can't handle it the whole day, I've lost a lot of days and wages.

My livlihood depends on my paychecks and I'm not sure what to do? The wkmn's comp insurance carrier has not contacted me yet. I don't have a case number. Granted I just reported it last Tuesday.

Following through day after day when I'm hurting, dizzy from pain killers, depressed and worried about finances, how and when will I get paid, how to and get treatment and not loose more money, and on & on.........

I am so depressed...I can't afford to make anymore mistakes, I feel alone and one step away from loosing everything (which isn't much to begin with...)

I'm really tired of my life. It's been uphill struggle the whole way through.

" Hi sepi-I'm sorry that you're going through all of this. You have my sympathy, for what it's worth. Just hold on, as hard as it is right now. I know that the very real fear of losing everything can be debilitating. Try and take the best care of yourself as you possibly can, both physically and emotionally. This is not going to be the most pleasant chapter of your life, but it is just one chapter of the story of your life. There's still plenty of time to write yourself a happy ending.

It might help to prioritize your life. Take a piece of paper, and on it, write your top 5. It seems to me that right now, your health would be pretty high on the list. Your financial situation would be right up there too. After you've written your top five, list at least one thing that you can do right now to take action in that particular situation. For example, let's say that your number two priority is keeping a roof over your head. One way to take action might be to contact your landlord immediately to make them aware of the situation. So, you list "A) contact landlord" under "2. Rent" or housing, or however you've listed it.

There may be government agencies in your area that can offer some short term help. Contact your local Social Service agency. Is there a food pantry in your city? Don't wait for workman's comp to contact you. Go ahead and contact them.

Sometimes, quite a lot of the stress surrounding a situation results from inaction. The inaction results from not knowing what to do. It's going to be a rough road for a while, but it's a road worth traveling. Things will get better, even if they get a little worse before then. Just hold on to the one thing that's most important-YOU. "

" In many cases you need an actual work related event.

Like when you are hurting on the job then you might be better off if you call an ambulance so there is a record of you going to the Doctor / Hospital from the job.

Thus it is job related and a job injury.

And it is not dishonest and not cheating the ambulance because when you are hurt and hurting then you could die while going home or while at your house instead of being in the ambulance.

I have had a couple times injured on a couple jobs and I went home and the job said that I was never hurt on those jobs and so I got nothing.

When a worker is sick and sore and injured then you must act the part or else they often say it is a lie.

Just a recommendation.

When you are sick on the job then get an ambulance which that gives you a factual paper trail connecting the injury with the job. "

" Thank you all for your words of wisdom and encouragement. The wkmn's comp ins co rejected my case but I'm getting an attorney. In the mean time I'm going to apply for short term disability. I was sent by my company to their doc and he gave me a med that mixed with my current meds and landed me in the emergency room! I had totally disclosed and discussed my meds I take for my bipolar.
Today I'm going to a regular doc to get the disability forms filled out, that way I have something coming in while fighting the wkmn's comp case...
I was trying to avoid this situation and go on partial time off, but with the stress they've put on me I think I need to take time off for at least a month.
Now I have to figure out how to pay my copays for my medical care. I already pay a lot for my medication and doctors due to my bipolar!
But yes, my health has to come first. I'm currently renting a guest room in a house. I'm afraid to tell the land lady about it, one time I wanted a few extra days to pay my rent and she refused. So I don't know what will happen now...
The way I see it, I don't have a choice but to put my health first. "
