Hi.
I'm new here. I was having a bad day, struggling with my image issues, and then I thought there had to be some sort of support group on the internet. I am a 25 year old female, born with a cleft lip and palate. Nobody in my family has one and nobody I know has one. My mother is gorgeous and I am insanely jealous, as my two brothers inherited those genes. Life is a constant struggle for me, and new situations are terrible for me. It didn't help that my Dad was in the navy and we had to move every 3 years, so I was constantly the "new kid" in town. I think this has made me a nervous wreck.... Anyhow, I don't know what I am hoping to get out of this. Maybe somewhere to go when I have a really bad day. I am hoping to find people who are doing really well, much better than me, as a source of inspiration. I know exactly how you feel.
I am 24 and was born with a cleft lip, No-one in my family had ever had it either and my brother seems to have gotten all the looks. Also my father was in the Army so moving around just really gave me a new place to get picked on. Please feel assured that you are not the only one out there feeling this way. Hey, I am also new... just found this site today. I was just gettin stressed because I have a surgery comin up and no one in my family seems to care that much. It isnt my first surgery. I am sixteen years old and was born with a cleft Palate and Lip. I've had a number of surgeries. Unlike you my mom also has a cleft Palate though not as bad a case as I had. She has one surgery n was done. i dont know what I am really looking for in this site... maybe just someone to talk to :P
