ok, so I look this up at least twice a week, and I don't know what to think about rebound headaches. I have been on more narcotics this week after my facet injections....oxycontin 10 mg 2x a day, and now roxicodone, 1/2 of a 15mg pill about 3 x a day. this is really not that much more that my usual intake from before, except for the addition of the oxycontin. so i freak out tonight when i get a bad headache and its been about 3 days since any headache. any thought on if this is normal or the stupid drugs. i know injections are not the cure all, but i was feeling better...too much hope maybe. any thoughts? thanks

How sure are you that these are rebound headaches. Might be a disc or two in your neck as a result of your car accident.
When was your last MRI? I suffer from an occasional migraine, I know it is a different type of headache but beside the Imitrex I use ice on the back of my neck and top of my head. Ouch

i am not so sure it is a rebound headchace, i just worry about that. i did have both an mri on my neck and head in the last 2 months, and i do not have disc, spinal chord or brain issues. i think i may just be adjusting to my new narcotic dosing somehow. we shall see.

when I first started narcotic pain meds I got rebound headaches, when the pain meds wore off. I would take advil for the headaches and put an icepack on my head and face sometimes the back of my neck. Once I was used to the narcotics I was fine,no more rebound headaches.

My pain doc had me on the exact meds you are on at one time. I didn't have rebound headaches but the doc said the oxycontin lasts about 8 hours before it starts to taper off.
Maybe that's where the pain is coming from. Just a thought. david

i might have figured it out. after my injections i went back on the liver cleansing herbs from the accupuncturist. the nurse at my school said i might need to space it even more from the pain meds or it might just flush it completely out. i didnt take the herbs today at all, and had a much much better day! so we shall see tomorrow. i am really thinking its not rebound headaches....my gp doc likes to scare me with this sometimes i think.

ok I started with the ambien cr again last night. I took it for about 5 nights last week and then ran out of samples. …
so I went to the pain doc today....and she had good things to help me with. first tomorrow,I go back and get injections …
