i have suffered with chronic pain for over 10 years. I had alot of back problems but could not get anyone to do the surgery then July of 2002 i had a car wreck and i was sent to an orthopedic that said he felt the wreck pusshed things further that i needed surgery so i did in December 2002.
I had aPLIF done with a fusion and pins and screws. I wentt o the doctor in May of last year cause i could hardly walk legs were so weak and hurting really bad well i found out the screws were broke. And he still claimed the fusion was solid. But in july of last year i went to another doctor and they said none of the fusion healed and all the movement caused the screws to break. So next friday i am haveing posterior/anterior surgery. Well i was told when i went for the pre op that they are just going to try to do the anterior but if they cant it will be both. They did not do the first surgery so dont really know what they are looking at when they go in. S i hate it not really knowing whats going to happen until i wake up. Sorry just griping some cause he dont want me to take meds due to them being able to get the after pain controled. I understand this cause i wasnt told this for the first time and it took double the anesthesia. Posted on 03/22/08, 02:03 pm |

Hello back atcha!
Don't feel back about getting things off your chest. Everyone has to do it sometimes. A surgery is a stressful thing even when the enjoyment of your life and getting rid of pain doesn't depend on it. I'm glad your doctor is at least giving you a legitimate reason for not taking meds. After you get the surgery, though, don't hesistate to take your meds as prescribed. You don't want to be late with ANY doses. You don't want to give pain a foot in the door, or else it becomes harder to control. Take care, and good luck!

You can vent anytime, surgery is very scary.I had a TLIF fusion surgery in April 07, they did it all from the back.
I was so scared before it so I know what you are feeling. I had to trust my DR 100% and have faith it would be ok.It was all good. They controlled my pain after very well in the hosp too.Just listen to your Dr when you come home. Many good wishes for a speedy recovery. If you want to talk, message me. Deb
