End of rope trying to get pain management-Help

Ok so basically, most of this post is what I wrote in my journal. I am totally disgusted. I will never in a million years understand what goes on in the minds of some doctors. Its 2:45am, and I can't sleep cause I am in pain. (I have Multiple Sclerosis) Its been really bad lately, to the point where I was in my therapists office wanting to die. So what does she do? She calls my primary doctor on my behalf, asking if he could give me something for my pain just to get me through to my appointment at pain management 8/20. What does he do? FLAT OUT REFUSES. I've had this experience with 3 different doctors now, so telling me to switch doctors is just something that I don't need to hear. At least this one didn't refuse to refer me to Pain Management like the others, but I'm afraid I won't make it to August 20, and I'm scared. How can doctors just flat out refuse to help? I'm suffering, and scared, and I feel alone cause no one can do anything for me, and I don't know what else to do to help myself.

" Wow - I feel so sorry for you. I had that problem when I took a fall over one of my dogs. My back was so bad. My doctor gave me the same pain medicine a tad bit stronger to me when I told him it did nothing for my pain. Have you tried advil liquid jels or motrin? You can safely taake 800ml. 3 x a day. That helped me more than anything a doctor has ever given me. Sure hope the pain management place helps you. "

" Thanks for the suggestion. But I am rotting my gut out with Ibuprofen. It doesn't work. I've tried the liquid gels, I've tried about every NON-narcotic pain med/anti-inflammatory/muscle relaxer there is. I've tried exercise, physical therapy, heat, ice. I just can't get relief. This is why I am at the end of my rope. "

" Hi AliCrazy,
I am as always, horrified at your story, I hear them daily. What you are experiencing is our nations number one Public Health crisis. The undertreatment of chronic pain.

I work for an organization called the Pain Relief Network. We are a politcial activist org, working our asses off to bring justice to 78 million chronic pain patients in this country.

Right now, federal law enforcement regulates medicine. And our doctors are forced to abandon or undertreat pain or face prosecution as drug traffickers. Most doctors want to treat, they are bound by law enforcement.

Please be careful with NSAIDS, they are lethal. At least 16,500 people die a year from liver failure and GI bleeding from these drugs. On the other hand, opiates cause no harm to the body. Chronic pain is a disease not unlike a maligancy and must be treated aggressively and long term.

Best of luck in your search, as this civil rights movement presses on for all Americans, I am anticipating brighter days ahead and justice for all sufferers.

" Now dont take this the wrong way, did your doctor refuse to let them give you more pain pills because you already took all that was supposed to get you though 8/20, becasue if you over took and it is easy to do when you are in pain, they will not give you more.

Just a question i am not judgeing you "

" Try to find a better doctor I know you have looked but keep searching if you find one ask him/her about oxycontin and norco both are good for pain and are easier on you organs oxycontil offers 12 hr relief but more likely 6-8 hrs and norco is good to take in between. I have never had a problem getting pain meds prescribed to me quite the opposite
the over prescribe I hope you get a doctor soon as living in pain is a bad way to live good luck and god bless.

Sincerely Mitchell "

" I am so sorry to hear what you are going through. I finally succeeded in getting regular pain meds after 10 months. Obviously, you need nothing less than narcotic pain killers. Your doc knows damn well that it's what you need but his hands are tied, sorta. It's all about politics. I had a doc a long time ago that had one of those cutesy posters in his office that said, "When you feel you are at the end of your rope, tie a knot and hang on!" I felt like ripping it off the wall and stuffing it down his throat. Wish I could help. "

" Sorry to hear you are having such a bad time at the moment. No-one should be denied adequate pain relief medication. This group seems to be full of stories like yours. Makes me so grateful I don't live in the US. Wishing you all the best... xxx "

" I hope this is helpful to you. My friend has chronic pain...as all of us here do. She suggested to me to try TART CHERRIES, you can buy a bottle of capsules at a health food store.

My friend swears by this NATURAL pain killer. She takes one per day for the more mild days and two on her more aggressive pain days.

I have not been able to get to the health food store to get my own, but I do trust my friend when she tells me what works...she is not on any prescribed medicines any longer. Just the natral things that are plentiful and NO DOCTOR NEEDED!!!

If you try the tart cherry capsules let me know if that has helped you please.

Blessings to you for releif from your pain. Hugs "
