My son is 5 years old. He complains of leg/back pain on the regular basis. You might want to check and make sure your blood levels are okay. Sometimes b/c of Celiac your levels get out of wack and your body is missing a vitamin or nutrient. Can be as easy as anemia or potassium. Blood work is alot cheaper than MRI's X3. Good Luck:)

Thank you for your help, I kinda thought I really didn't need MRI's but thought I better see if anyone else has problems. Guess I will wait for a while and get some blood work done. Thanks

Joint and bone pain are very common with CD. After being GF for a period of time the daily pain went away now the pains just come and go.
Save your money! I know someone who was treated for arthritis for 10 yrs and once he was diagnosed with CD, he is almost 100% pain free.
Unless you have symptoms of another illness don't go through all the hassles and costs of tests.

I think we all need to know that gluten has caused damage to all part of our body. I have joint and muscle pain all over. I have been gf for 4 years. It is JEM123--it is much better but still happens occasionally. I think once we are gf for awhile things get better, but I think parts of our body are permanently damaged from the lack of nutrients and things it needed over the years when Celiac stopped out body organs from getting what it needed. I was 52 when diagnosed. Hopefully those of you who are diagnosed at a young age when not be affected as badly. Good luck to all.

I do complain of leg pain- cramps and aches now and then for no obvious reason. I thought I was the only one.

I have neuropathy (nerve type/achy/cramping pain in the calves & feet) ever since I had chemo & a stem cell transplant. That is the same time I developed celiac disease...I got it from my donor/brother since he has it too. When I adhere to the diet my pains improve. If I am bad the pain is worse. But, as a nurse I would have it checked...just because you have celiac doesn't mean something else couldn't be wrong too. Better safe then sorry!

I had leg pain and arm pain and they couldn't find anything, then I went into full blown celiac neuropathy and my arms and legs felt like they were asleep and tingled 24 hours a day. finally they found I was B-12 deficient and anemic. I had to learn to give myself B-12 shots and went to the hospital weekly for iron i.v.'s. It sucked for a while, bet my symptoms have gotten better.

Leg pain comes from neuropathy (sp) due to being poisoned by gluten for years. This is a common result of this disease. I have very severe pain all the time. After nearly a decade it has not gone away.
