Caregiver Theme Songs

As I was running errands, this morning, I was listening to the car radio. The following song played and, for once, besides doing the seated bop to it, I actually listened to the lyrics, internalized everything about it, including the knock-'em-dead instrumental and the exuberant delivery and thought, "Whoa, great Caregiver Theme Song!"

The song: "Roll With It" by Steve Winwood.

Anyone else got a good Caregiver Theme Song? Or, for that matter, a theme song for anything with which members of this community would identify?

" OK Gail: You are on!!! I have a great theme song for our caregiver group. It is the theme song from Cheers. Anyone ever listen to the lyrics of that song? Here it is (now all of you know I am always writing loooongg messages :o) - so like me or not, you hve to put up with me... (smile).
Where Everybody Knows Your Name by Gary Portnoy and Judy Hart Angelo - Cheers Lyrics

Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.
Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
and they're always glad you came.
You wanna be where you can see,
our troubles are all the same
You wanna be where everybody knows
Your name.
You wanna go where people know,
people are all the same,
You wanna go where everybody knows
your name.

Full Lyrics that never actually aired are below for those interested:

Making your way in the world today
Takes everything you've got;
Taking a break from all your worries
Sure would help a lot.
Wouldn't you like to get away?
All those night when you've got no lights,
The check is in the mail;
And your little angel
Hung the cat up by it's tail;
And your third fiance didn't show;
Sometimes you want to go
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to be where you can see,
Our troubles are all the same;
You want to be where everybody knows your name.
Roll out of bed, Mr. Coffee's dead;
The morning's looking bright;
And your shrink ran off to Europe,
And didn't even write;
And your husband wants to be a girl;
Be glad there's one place in the world
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
You want to go where people know,
People are all the same;
You want to go where everybody knows your name.
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came;
Where everybody knows your name,
And they're always glad you came... "

" PERFECT, Louise1951...especially the second set of lyrics! Thanks! Thanks, as well, for the idea of posting the lyrics. Didn't think of that. Here are the lyrics for "Roll With It" (also by Steve Winwood):

When life is too much, roll with it, baby
Dont stop and lose your touch, oh no, baby
Hard times knocking on your door, Ill tell them you aint there no more
Get on through it, roll with it, baby
Luckll come and then slip away, youve gotta move, bring it back to stay

You just roll with it, baby, come on and just roll with it, baby
You and me, roll with it, baby, hang on and just roll with it, baby

The way that you love is good as money
I swear by stars above, sweet as honey
People think youre down and out, you show them what its all about
You can make it, roll with it, baby
When this world turns its back on you, hang in and do that sweet thing you do

You just roll with it, baby, you just roll with it, baby
Come on and just roll with it, baby, you and me, just roll with it, baby

Now therell be a day youll get there, baby, youll hear the music play, youll dance, baby
Youll leave bad times way behind, nothing but good times on your mind
You can do it, roll with it, baby
Then youll see life will be so nice, its just a step up to paradise
You just roll with it, baby, you just roll with it, baby
You and me, just roll with it, baby, come on and just roll with it, baby

Don't apologize, Louise1951, for running off at the fingers...you're not the only one here who can't stop typing! Oddly, you and I were born in the same year. Wonder if that has anything to do with it?!? "

" This is great Gail Rae!!! I've always had "theme songs" in my life. Must be the Libra in me :)
Since my Mom's condition has worsened in the last few years, these two songs actually help me cope:

I try to remind myself of this one everyday:

The End (Lennon/McCartney)
Lead vocal: Paul

Oh yeah, all right
Are you going to be in my dreams
Tonight?

And in the end
The love you take
Is equal to the love you make.

The Beatles
HELP

Help, I need somebody,
Help, not just anybody,
Help, you know I need someone, help.

When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in any way.
But now these days are gone, I'm not so self assured,
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round.
Help me, get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me.

And now my life has changed in oh so many ways,
My independence seems to vanish in the haze.
But every now and then I feel so insecure,
I know that I just need you like I've never done before.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round.
Help me, get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me.

When I was younger, so much younger than today,
I never needed anybody's help in any way.
But now these daya are gone, I'm not so self assured,
Now I find I've changed my mind and opened up the doors.

Help me if you can, I'm feeling down
And I do appreciate you being round.
Help me, get my feet back on the ground,
Won't you please, please help me, help me, help me, oh. "

" Totally inappropriate, but this song always reminds me - in an obviously morbid way - to try (at least try) to live today as if it's my last, although I haven't been doing such a great job of that lately:

Gravedigger by Dave Matthews

Cyrus Jones 1810 to 1913
Made his great grandchildren believe
You could live to 103
A hundred and three is forever when you’re just a little kid
So, Cyrus Jones live forever

Gravedigger
When you dig my grave
Could you make it shallow
So that I can feel the rain
Gravedigger

Muriel Stonewall 1903 to 1954
She lost both of her babies in the second great war
Now, you should never have to watch as your only children are lowered in the ground
I mean - never have to bury your own babies

Gravedigger
When you dig my grave
Could you make it shallow
So that I can feel the rain
Gravedigger

Ring around the rosey
Pocket full o'posey
Ashes to ashes
{Musical intro}
We all fall down

Gravedigger
When you dig my grave
Could you make it shallow
So that I can feel the rain
Oh Gravedigger

Little Mikey Carson '67 to '75
He rode his bike like the devil until the day he died
When he grows up he wants to be Mr. Vertigo on the flying trapeze
Oh, 1940 to 1992--

Gravedigger
When you dig my grave
could you make it shallow
So that I can feel the rain
Grave digger
When you dig my grave
Could you make it shallow
So that I can feel the rain
I can feel the rain
I can feel the rain
Gravedigger
When you dig my grave
Could you make it shallow
So that I can feel the rain
Gravedigger
Gravedigger "

" That's a GREAT one, Diane!

Haven't got another, at the moment (although I share your affinity for theme songs, SandyNeedsHelp...I usually pick them unconsciously...then, many years later, when I hear them again, the entire period floods back for me), but just had to mention, "Ring around..." made me laugh out loud! "
