A Suggestion

A new sub group dedicated to "COPD / Emphysema / Education" to cover latest medical updates / terminology explanations, medicines and treatments. In fact all about COPD. Any member could then read or post any news / information regarding our disease or treatment.
The information that has already been posted here is very important to this group, it is very extensive information which can require a lot of reading, often it is factual information and statements copied from other sources which members may not already have read that perhaps they do not wish to discuss but actually just read and absorb. I am aware that many members here are very much already educated about COPD / Emphysema and I feel that sharing the information is essential to us all. I think it would be great to have access to a sort of COPD dictionary for when members needed to find things out, look things up or simply just remind themselves about information they have already come across. We could then discuss in the discussion support group for COPD / Emphysema the preferences of its members about their views on what things should be included in the new COPD / Emphysema Education sub group. Just a suggestion - for discussion PS Perhaps we should even have a sub group call "The grumpies" and go there when we feel like offloading! Posted on 10/07/08, 08:10 am |

After thinking about this change, I think we should leave things as they are.
For me, I like it just the way it is:)

I posted under the Recommendations tab and it threw the post into the Discussion area automatically. At least it answered our inquiry as to whether we had more than one area to post on the COPD page. We don't.
There is a member-formed group for COPD that offers support.

I'd like to see us leave things the way they are. I think this site is challenging enough for newcomers to navigate and figure out, and if we add another layer to what they need to know, then it may intimidate them. I think the Discussions should be about anything that has to do with living with COPD, whether it's pure information, or personal experiences. Blessings, everyone!

The grumpies ? Does COPD cause the grumpies ? LOL Yes, I know darn well it does but I have to warn you. You don't want me at DS on those days. Wink & smile. Sue is right...it should be left like it has always been. It serves us well.

I did enjoy your reply about the grumpies Ohana.
The suggestion already made would be very simple in fact easier to access for new and existing members; One only needs to start a new group called say: "COPD/Emphysema - Education", this Group could then be solely dedicated to "Education"..... leaving the Discussion and Support Group of COPD / Emphysema for ..... Discussion and Support. Old Members could advise new members that this area exists if they happen to be seeking this information. All members could post in the new group as we do here with the exception that we would need to agree that the new "Education" Group stays for postings of that nature ...... freeing up this group for the purpose it was intended ....... Support and Discussions). I am in agreement that it is entirely up to group members what happens and who posts where but I had half hoped that those who really love to post about Education might want to start this group themselves. It seems so far that people are not seeking what I had thought to be a simpler way of finding out information, sharing, discussing and supporting each other. Perhaps I am the first member that has ever thought this would work better for all. No matter - the choice is entirely yours. Have a Great weekend all - I am off now for a few day - Keep Well, Keep Warm and Keep Breathing ...... Oh and Smiling too :O)

So far out of the entire site only 9 people have replied to this suggestion (including myself).
1 possible undecided. 2 For the new additional Group 6 against Even with the sub group "Education" Up and running" I think you will agree things have not changed at all here. http://dailystrength.org/groups/em... Aleady there is some very informative information posted, I'm sure you will agree there is room for both groups. Already the new group has 8 members - so equally there is interest in both groups. Good wishes all - Enjoy your time on DS wherever you choose to post. Have Fun
