How do we cope

It seems like every day I start from scratch in coping with COPD. I just wish it would all go away. But it won’t, so I keep looking for ways to help me. The article in the link was brought to my attention and although it’s lengthy, it’s worth a read. It lists the phases we go through - crisis, isolation, anger, reconstruction, intermittent depression, and renewal. In the renewal category are suggestions such as make your expectations realistic, approach problems actively, seek appropriate help, manage your anger, participate, live in the present, and cherish the good times.

" Thanks Sassy! This is a really excellent article. Lots of good advice. It can be comforting to know that the stages we are going through are "normal."

I think I can even use some of this advice in my healing practice with Reiki and Flower Essences. As often as not, I'm in a "counseling mode" with clients.

Thanks so much for posting this. Hugs "

" You make alot of sence. It seems like most of the time with my state of mind though, I seem to be riding an emotional rollercoaster. Somedays I am angry and bitter about this horrible disease and then some I can make fun of it. I have been getting so scared lately. It seems everything I read it talks about the final stages of copd and I feel like those comments alot, but just aquired this disease more or less so I certainly hope this is not the final stages for me. " This definitely was a long one, but so revelant that I printed it out to highlight the parts that I felt identified so much how I feel at times. Again, you have lightened my day and made me feel I am not alone. Sassy, you are a wonderful friend to many, Love and hugs with prayers, Jeannie "
